The colors of fall are arriving soon! Join MAD Art’s Plein Air classes and capture them on canvas. Plein air refers to the type of painting done “in the open air”. With an easel and paints in tow, and an appealing location and subject, the artist works quickly to capture the scene. Choose to work in your preferred medium. Joyce Halliday Smith
Oil painting “en plein air” is Joyce’s passion. She chooses oils for their richness, depth and variety of colors. Joyce graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, majoring in fine art, with an art history minor, and received a Masters of Fine Art degree from Syracuse University. She has been in numerous juried exhibitions and has won awards in Rhode Island, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Joyce has taught at Syracuse University and Stockton College, and for several years, enjoyed teaching art classes for adults and children.
